Your Regular Dental Visit

Your regular dental visit at Boston Post Dental & Implants is about more than just cleaning your teeth. It’s an opportunity for us to partner with you in maintaining optimal oral health. We believe in taking time with each patient, answering questions, and creating a welcoming environment where you feel heard and valued.

When you arrive at our Sudbury dental office, we’ll review your medical history and discuss any changes in your health or medications. If you’re experiencing dental concerns like sensitivity, bleeding gums, or jaw pain, let us know.

During your visit, we use advanced technology including digital X-rays and intraoral cameras to get a complete picture of your oral health. These tools help us detect problems early when they’re easiest and least expensive to treat. Regular visits every six months allow us to monitor your oral health and catch issues before they become serious.

Dental Exams and Cleanings

Comprehensive dental exams and professional cleanings are the cornerstone of preventive dentistry. At Boston Post Dental & Implants, our skilled dental hygienists and Dr. Stanley Ye work together to provide thorough, gentle care that keeps your smile in top condition.

Your dental exam includes a careful evaluation of your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. We check for signs of decay, examine your gums for inflammation, and assess your bite and jaw function. Digital X-rays help us see beneath the surface, revealing cavities between teeth, bone loss, and other conditions not visible during a visual exam.

Our dental hygienists use specialized instruments to remove plaque and tartar deposits from your teeth and along the gumline. After scaling, we polish your teeth to remove surface stains and apply fluoride to strengthen your enamel. We also demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques and recommend products suited to your specific needs.

Oral Cancer Screening

Early detection saves lives. That’s why every dental exam at our dental office includes a thorough oral cancer screening. Oral cancer is highly treatable when caught early, but it often goes unnoticed in its initial stages because it doesn’t always cause pain or obvious symptoms.

During your screening, we carefully examine your lips, tongue, cheeks, floor of your mouth, roof of your mouth, and throat for any signs of abnormality. We look for red or white patches, sores that don’t heal, lumps, or changes in tissue texture. We also check your neck and jaw for swollen lymph nodes.

If we notice anything concerning during your screening, we’ll refer you to a specialist for further evaluation. Most abnormalities turn out to be benign, but it’s always better to investigate.

Root Canal Therapy

Modern root canal therapy is a comfortable procedure that saves teeth and relieves pain. When the pulp inside your tooth becomes infected or inflamed due to deep decay, a crack, or trauma, a root canal prevents the infection from spreading and saves your tooth.

Signs you may need a root canal include severe toothache when biting down, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold, tooth discoloration, gum swelling and tenderness, or a persistent bump on your gums.

Dr. Ye performs root canal therapy right here in our Sudbury dental office. After ensuring you’re comfortable with local anesthesia, we create a small opening to access the infected pulp chamber. We remove the damaged pulp, clean and disinfect the inside of the tooth, and fill the space with a biocompatible material. A crown is typically placed over the tooth to restore its strength.

Thanks to modern techniques, root canal therapy is no more uncomfortable than getting a filling, and many patients feel immediate relief.
